How Things Run

As hosts of Te Miro Woolshed, it's important to us that we are meeting your expectations from the start. We take great pride in styling and setting up your wedding, with personal input from yourselves.

Below is an outline of how things run on the day.

Wedding Ceremony Locations

The immediate surroundings and rural backdrop of the Kaimai Ranges provide endless options to make your ceremony unique and personalised. The best location to say "I Do" is within the beautiful landscaped gardens, under the mature magnolia tree. The mature trees provide ample shade on those summer days, as well as the perfect area to mix and mingle with a glass of champagne. In the event of wet weather, we have our newly renovated rustic Stables that add a truly intimate and cosy feel to your ceremony.

Reception

Te Miro Woolshed is a rustic wedding venue that can cater for a maximum of 100 people, including the bridal party. Our rustic up-cycled theme, reuse of old farm equipment and locally sourced treasures is visible though out the venue. The woolshed has a mix of informal seating, including benches, a collection of vintage school chairs, wagon wheels, bar leaners, up-cycled tables, market umbrellas, fairy lights, industrial light fittings and rustic props. Please click here for a detailed list of props.

Internally, we have a seated area, dance floor, rustic bar, photo-booth area plus complimentary tea and coffee. Our large undercover deck creates the perfect atmosphere for guests to have a drink and catchup with friends and family.

As part of the woolshed experience, we offer guests the opportunity to partake in a variety of fun and interactive activities including our giant outdoor games and unique photo-booth with quirky wearable props. As the night falls, multiple fairy and festoon lights, set the scene for a fun filled  night of dancing and laughter. Guests can also sit around the open fire pit toasting marshmallows on our homemade No.8 wire kebab sticks.

Food/Catering

Te Miro Woolshed informal cocktail style dining, canapes, and roaming food stations, which allows guests to mix and mingle and choose their own seating plan. Couples are required to hire a commercial caterer that is both mobile and self contained, to make things easier for everyone involved. Food trucks are a perfect alternative to buffet or platted dinners, being that they are accessible and fun. We've have been lucky enough to work with some fantastic food trucks that create a variety of delicious meal options.

A list of food trucks can be found here - we can vouch for all of them.

If you've found a caterer or food truck that hasn't been to Te Miro Woolshed before,  get in touch with us before booking, to make sure our facilities will be suitable for them.

Please make sure the food truck and caterers provide environmentally friendly options for serving their food such as paper/bamboo plates and cutlery, just to keep things tidy.

Note: All food will need to be prepared off site.

Grazing tables or platters are a great way to feed guests between the ceremony and dinner service.

A professional caterer can be in charge of this, and we have a list of favourites here.

Alternatively, a guest or friend can be in charge of preparing the grazing table prior to the ceremony.

Suppling food in between the ceremony and dinner is a requirement of the venue.

Dessert is optional and can be served on our rustic wooden table.

In the past, our couples have used a variety of dessert options in the past such as a classic wedding Cake, Real Fruit Ice Cream Truck, Mr Whippy, Epiphany Donuts, jars full of lollies and even some homemade slices.

BYO Alcohol

Couples are in charge of purchasing and providing all alcohol/refreshments, ice and glassware.

Drinks are displayed in our rustic bar using up-cycled copper tanks and rustic metal buckets full of ice. Oil barrels, wooden planks and beer crates create the ideal bar to serve drinks from. We do not charge a corkage fee, however it is a requirement of the venue to have two venue staff who's duties include, setup and pack-down of the champagne table, replenishing the bar, clearing bottles and rubbish from tables, maintaining the toilets, emptying rubbish bins, cleaning and shutdown etc.

This is an extra cost depending on what package you choose, details can be emailed to you when you enquire.

Note: Guests are not permitted to BYO drinks.
